Climb Ev'ry Mountain is a quest given by Captain Gilles from Bitter Springs. A sniper has been attacking Bitter Springs, kiiling NCR soldiers and civilians. It is related to No, Not Much, with the target holding the key to the supply crates, and when you ask for more information from Gilles. The sniper is located in a cave west of Bitter Springs. Hi all, question on this quest. Seems a little odd.Quest: To find out who has been attacking refugees at Bitter Springs and stop them. Wiki:What I did: Wound way through mountains to cave. Spoke to Oscar Velasco. Listened to his story. Failed speech check 25/50 mentioned in the walkthrough. This is where things go off the rails.Now given the options 'I told Captain Gilles I would stop the attacks on Bitter Springs.'

Or 'I'll leave you to your grief.' Grief option has him say 'So be it' or somesuch and he disengages peacefully but quest is not complete.'

Told Captain Gilles' continues the conversation tree. Paraphrasing, he says something like 'Fool yourself, but I've seen the true face of the NCR' after which you only have the option to say something like 'I'll be back'. Conversation breaks for a moment then he stops you and says something to the tune of 'You know where I live, I can't let you go now' and I am given the option of two Speech 25 checks.

Choose the top one, because this character is pro-NCR but a bit of a Follower bleeding-heart, and he lets you go peaceably.Headed back to Captain Gilles expecting to be able to achieve the same/better results as the Speech 50 check, just with a bunch more footwork.

Strangely, I am only given one dialogue option. 'I found your attacker.

There's a Great Khan hiding out in the mountains. I can lead your men there.' Choosing this gives me negative karma, I presume because I broke my word. But I wasn't given any other choice! In previous situations it seems like telling the truth really meant you were telling the truth.

Did I miss something? I can't find any reference to it in the walkthroughs, which say 'pass the Speech 50 check or kill the guy'. Any ideas?Thanks,ANOVA.
